Xamanil: El espíritu de la reinvención en los tejidos mayas

Following the onset of the global Coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and its implications for the global economy, tourism was one of the most affected sectors. In a country like Guatemala, where this sector is one of the most important sources of income, I found myself needing to reinvent my handicraft business.

And so Xamanil emerged in May 2023, with the idea of creating my own product that was different and innovative: a textile line that combines traditional Mayan textiles with creative details and finishes. The majority of our products are made from recycled typical Guatemalan fabrics—each with its own history—which are transformed into unique and exclusive pieces.

Each product is crafted with special care, from the selection of materials to its design and creation. The line of items we are working on is primarily for the home, such as coasters and pitcher covers.

Xamanil is a Kaqchikel word that refers to the spirit that dwells in all things.

You can find our products here.

Best,

Lorena Pivaral, Xamanil
