Tejiendo Sueños: Canastas y Bolsos con Propósito Social en Antigua Guatemala

Introduction: The Origin of Weaving Dreams (Tejiendo Sueños)

My name is Ana Judith Gómez, founder and current owner of Tejiendo Sueños (Weaving Dreams), a company located in the village of San Juan del Obispo, near Antigua Guatemala. We are dedicated to the handmade creation of baskets, bags, and purses, 100% crafted by hand.

A Mission of Empowerment and Recycling

We are a group of housewives who, due to various circumstances, cannot work outside the home. Because of this, this venture is a vital source of economic support for our families. We work from our homes using recycled plastic as the main raw material for crafting all our products.

To ensure quality and economic growth, the entire Tejiendo Sueños team constantly participates in workshops and training sessions.

A Little Piece of Guatemala in Every Design

In each of our products Tejiendo Sueños, we place a little piece of Guatemala by decorating them with textiles and huipiles (traditional blouses) representative of the attire from different regions of the republic. For the handles of some bags, we use cedar or other fine woods, and in other cases, leather.
